Walgett Shire is situated in the far north west of New South Wales. The Shire consists of several larger towns and villages and a large rural population. Walgett Shire covers 22,000 square kilometres and has a population of 7199 people and includes the towns of Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Burren Junction, Collarenebri, Carinda, Cumborah, Grawin Glengarry & Sheepyard Opal Fields, Rowena and Pokataroo.
