Abstract |
The composition and extent of the present vegetation within the Mt Grenfell addition (station) surrounding Mt Grenfell Historic Site is described and mapped. Thirty‐four quadrat‐based sites were sampled, with intensive field traverses, opportunistic sampling and aerial photograph interpretation. An additional six sites from the previous Mt Grenfell Historic Site survey were incorporated into the data analysis. Six vegetation communities are described and 234 taxa of vascular plants recorded from 59 families, eleven of which are considered to be rare and threatened or regionally significant. VIS_ID 3979 |

Linework depicting an observed or inferred vegetation type boundary was marked on aerial photograph acetate overlays during stereoscopic interpretation of colour aerial photography at 1:50,000 scale. Each mapped polygon was assigned to a pre-determined vegetation type (see abstract for vegetation classification details), which was marked on the overlay. Linework was transferred to hardcopy topographic mapsheets and othorectified onscreen using ArcGIS. A code denoting the vegetation community was then attributed to each polygon based on the hardcopy linework. It was digitised after scanning the map and rectifying the image to a mapsheet. Digititised on screen in ArcGIS. |
