NSW Bionet Vegetation Classification Data Collection

The BioNet Vegetation Classification Data Collection maintained in the BioNet - Vegetation Classification application http://www.bionet.nsw.gov.au/. The Collection contains:

  1. the NSW vegetation community typology including Plant Community Types, NSW Vegetation Formations and Classes;

  2. NSW Vegetation Integrity (Benchmarks); and many other characteristics of NSW Plant Community Types (PCT).

The PCT classification was developed in 2011 to establish an unambiguous master community-level classification for use in vegetation mapping programs, regulatory decisions, and as a standard typology for other planning and data gathering programs. With introduction of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act in October 2018 PCTs superseded BioMetric Vegetation Types as the NSW regulatory vegetation classification. For more information go to http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/research/Visclassification.htm.

ACCESS: The Vegetation Classification Data Collection can be accessed through the BioNet - Vegetation Classification application: http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NSWVCA20PRapp/LoginPR.aspx. or via the BioNet Vegetation Classification Web Service (an Open API) https://data.bionet.nsw.gov.au/

This Data Collection is maintained and improved on a regular basis, and is hence subject to change.
