Coffs Harbour LGA Vegetation 1996 and 2005. VIS_ID 3910 |

Abstract |
The vegetation of Coffs Harbour City LGA, excluding National Parks and State Forest tenure, but including all remnant vegetation over 0.5 ha was mapped and classified into type and units in 1996 by Mark Fisher for CHCC. In 2005 Penny Kendall mapped the LGA addition area in the north that took in part of the former Pristine Shire Council around Red Rock and Corindi. Both mapping has been merged into this one dataset for ease of use. Note the source in the attribute table. VIS_ID 3910 |

Lineage |
For the 1996 mapping Aerial photographs were scanned and rectified. All line work was scanned from overlays and converted into a rectified, attributed, topographically corrected digital database. Raw data provided by consultants North East Vegetation Surveys, digitised by Roger Dwyer.\n\n\n\nVegetation communities were derived by an intuitive classification of systematic plot data that includes dominant / trace species in each strata. Floristic groups used in API were adopted from NPWS NRAC classification that was based on full floristic plot data. An additional 110 full floristic sites with cover abundance were carried out. Additional codes were derived to accommodate patterns that did not fit NRAC classification. Assignment of vegetation communities to mapping units was based subjectively on the dominant eucalypt species appearing in the canopy. Coding was standardised to the SFNSW system of forest typing with some refinement based on the understorey assemblages. Non-Eucalypt vegetation communities were also classified. A total of 61 vegetation communities were identified and mapped within the LGA.\n\n\n\nAerial Photography \n\nDate: 17/05/94. \n\nCoffs Harbour film number 4198 run 2-12.\n\nScale: 1:25,000\n\nPhoto production: colour photography\n\nPhoto quality: High\n\n\n\nMap attributes include the following fields: Record #, Attribute code, area (hectares), Community name, Community Structure, Locality, Dominant floristics, Floristics name, Koala habitat, Vegetation complex, Data offset, Tot points, Easting and Northing. |
