Aquatic Macroinvertebrates of NSW (1994 - ongoing) |
Abstract |
The dataset contains information on aquatic macroinvertebrates that has been collected under the Monitoring River Health Project (1994-2000), the Sustainable Rivers Audit (2002-2012) and the Monitoring Evaluating and Reporting (MER) program (2006 ongoing) across the whole of NSW. The data were collected using the AUSRIVAS protocols (available at http://ausrivas.canberra.edu.au/Bioassessment/Macroinvertebrates/) which includes in situ water quality measurements, site habitat assessment and macroinvertebrate data. The dataset has a latitude and longitude and site access information for every sample site. |

Lineage |
The data from 1994 to 2000 was collected for the National River Health Monitoring Program, the NSW leader of this program was Eren Turak of DECCW. Since 2004 the data has been collected for the MDBA Sustainable Rivers Audit and the coastal SRA. Data has been collected using the Ausrivas protocols throughout the life of the two projects, however, the protocols changed slightly in 2004 so that sample sorting was for a longer time and sampling became more habitat-intense.
